You’ve been monitoring your Wikipedia page for years. You’ve checked for vandalism, accuracy, and even get notifications when there are changes.
But, just when you figured things out, a new player comes along.
Let me introduce you to Grokipedia.
On October 27, 2025, xAI launched Grokipedia, an AI-generated encyclopedia. It started with over 885,000 articles, growing to more than 2.3 million articles as of January 2026.
If you are thinking of your overall brand, here is why Grokipedia should matter to you.
Google and Bing now indexing Grokipedia and show pages in search results. This means that anyone searching for you online is able to find your page. The issue is that unlike Wikipedia, Grokipedia relies entirely on AI instead of human editors to generate and verify its articles.
The result? Errors. Lots of them. And, until Grok achieves autonomous AI, there will be just as many errors as with Wikipedia.
Summary: Grokipedia is the AI-generated encyclopedia with over 2.1 million pages. It launched in October 2025 and is now indexed in Google and Bing. AI hallucinations within are creating factual errors about people and companies. Even Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger found fabricated information on his own Grokipedia page. Time to check your Grokipedia page to ensure it is factually correct.

What is Grokipedia?
Grokipedia has been referred to as a Wikipedia alternative. It is an AI-powered online encyclopedia created by the artificial intelligence company xAI. The platform uses Grok, xAI’s large language model, to generate, update, and fact-check all of its content.
Musk announced the project in September 2025 during a conversation with David Sacks at the All-In podcast conference. Musk has been a vocal critic of Wikipedia, arguing that the platform has issues with regards to bias. He launched Grokipedia as a solution to fix those biases.
Quote – “We are building Grokipedia @xAI. Will be a massive improvement over Wikipedia. Frankly, it is a necessary step towards the xAI goal of understanding the Universe.” — Elon Musk
Grokipedia started with over 800,000 pages when it launched in October 2025. As of January 2026, Grokipedia hosts more than 2.3 million entries (compared to approximately 7 million in Wikipedia).
Here’s what makes Grokipedia fundamentally different from Wikipedia:
- AI-Generated Content: Every article in Grokipedia is written by Grok, not humans. While some content is adapted from Wikipedia under Creative Commons licensing, Grok rewrites and modifies entries.
- AI Fact-Checking: Instead of human editors verifying information, Grok does its own fact-checking. Articles display a “Fact-checked by Grok” timestamp.
- Unique Editing Process: Unlike Wikipedia where anyone can edit directly, Grokipedia users can only suggest corrections. The suggestions are reviewed by Grok who then decides whether to implement them or not.

Why Grokipedia Matters for Your Business and Personal Brand
A November 2025 audit by PolitiFact found that Grokipedia articles often contain “unsourced content and misleading or opinionated claims.” The review also found that some pages credited sources that didn’t actually exist.
Key Finding: PolitiFact found that some Grokipedia pages credited sources that didn’t actually exist. This is common for all large language models so Grokipedia is no exception.
I know. Who cares about Grokipedia right?
Well, you should and here is why.
Grokipedia is Now Indexed by Google and Bing
Within the first week of launch, pages were being indexed by both Google and Bing. Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable noted that Bing had indexed over 52,000 pages by early November 2025.

So yes, Grokipedia entries are now appearing in search results.
As of early 2026, pages do not appear to be ranking in first page results. However, this is likely to change with the relevancy of Grokipedia. The more people that use it, the higher it will rank.
AI Hallucinations Are Real and Documented
Here’s where it gets interesting.
Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger, someone who has been critical of Wikipedia’s editorial practices, examined his own Grokipedia page shortly after launch. I am sure you already know the results.
Yup, you guessed it. There was a mix of factual information AND complete fabrications.
Sanger noted that while his Grokipedia entry contained “interesting and correct content not found in the corresponding Wikipedia article,” it also contained what he called “bullshittery” (confident-sounding statements that were simply made up).
Bottom Line: If the co-founder of Wikipedia found hallucinations on his own Grokipedia page, imagine what your page says.
No Human Verification Layer
Grokipedia has no human oversight for fact-checking. This can be an issue since Grok takes information from sources that may not be accurate. It can be worse since large language models tend to hallucinate. This is why I never recommend using platforms such as ChatGPT to create Wikipedia pages.
And here’s a stat that should concern you. 92% of people don’t verify AI-generated answers. So, what they read on Grokipedia will be taken as the truth.
Key Stat: 92% of people don’t verify AI-generated answers. That means if someone reads inaccurate information about you on Grokipedia, they’re likely to take it as fact.
How to Check and Fix Errors on Your Grokipedia Page
Don’t worry, there is some good news. You can actually fix Grokipedia errors with a simple request.
Tip: Errors on Grokipedia won’t fix themselves. Check your page today, document any inaccuracies, and submit correction requests. You can also hire a professional writer such as myself to correct Grokipedia on your behalf.
Here’s how the process works.
Step 1: Check If You Have a Page
- Go to Grokipedia.com
- Enter the name of the page you are looking for
- If an entry exists, you’ll see it in the search results
Note – If the page does not exist, you can always request it be created. I can help with that. Contact me and I will tell you how.
Step 2: Document Errors
Before requesting corrections, document what’s wrong. Some of the most common errors you will see include:
- Sources that lead to nowhere
- Factual errors that do not match the source
- Incorrect dates (founding dates, birth dates, etc.)
- Hallucinated facts (things that never happened)
Step 3: Submit Correction Requests
Grokipedia allows logged-in users to suggest edits through a pop-up form. Here’s how that’s done:
- Highlight the offending text
- A popup will appear above the text
- Click on “suggest an edit”
- In the box, type a summary of the incorrect information and include any sources to support your request
- Grok will review your suggestion and either implement the change or deny the request
Step 4: Check the Status
Checking the status of the request is fairly easy. Note, changes are not immediate as they are in Wikipedia.
- At the top right of each Grokipedia page is a “edits history’ button
- Click on the button and you will see a list of all edits as well as a list of only your edits
The following video gives a quick overview of how to find a Grokipedia page and request a change.
Image below is a screenshot taken after the above video was recorded. You can see that Grokipedia did accept the requested change.

The Relationship Between Wikipedia and Grokipedia
The relationship between Wikipedia and Grokipedia is important to understand. Grokipedia isn’t built from scratch. Just like much of the content you read in other large language models, much of the content in Grokipedia comes directly from Wikipedia.
Quote: “Wikipedia’s knowledge is – and always will be – human…This human-created knowledge is what AI companies rely on to generate content; even Grokipedia needs Wikipedia to exist.” – Wikimedia Foundation
Musk confirmed on the All-In podcast (full video below) that his team instructed Grok to “go through the top 1 million Wikipedia articles and then add, modify and delete.” Many Grokipedia entries include a disclaimer at the bottom stating the content was “adapted from Wikipedia” under Creative Commons licensing.
So what does this mean for you?
Wikipedia still matters. Despite the 8% drop in traffic thanks to AI overview, information from Wikipedia is still being shown to people, just on a different platform (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, etc.).
So, it is a “garbage in, garbage out” effect. If there is garbage on Wikipedia, there will be garbage on Grokipedia. You now need to monitor your presence on both platforms.

Summing it Up
Grokipedia does not appear to be going away. The platform is growing and as of 2026 is about one-third the size of Wikipedia. It is now indexed by Google and Bing and if you need to be aware of it if you want to protect your brand.
